Just how frenzy supporters can get when a star signing is sighted unexpectedly in public, so is the story of former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, who was attacked by fans while on a short leisurely walk through Barcelona with wife Sofia Balbi on Saturday afternoon.
The 27-year-old Uruguay forward, who joined Spanish giants Barcelona from Anfield for £75m, will only be able to make his debut for the Catalan club at the end of October due to his four-month FIFA ban incurred for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup.
But that didn’t stop a score of Barca fans and admirers in the Spanish City from having a close look at their new signing, who is adjusting to a new life in Barcelona.
Suarez had a smile on his face as kids and grown-ups alike attempted to get photos with the 2014 Premier League Golden Boot winner.
He was later pictured signing one supporter’s Lionel Messi shirt. Suarez will partner the Argentine talisman in attack at the Nou Camp next season, after he must have been officially unveiled when his ban expires.
However, Allsoccerplanet can confirm to you that Suarez didn’t bite any of the fans who mobbed him…LOL
