Four Germany and three Argentina players have been short-listed for the 2014 World Cup Golden Ball award.
Germany players nominated are: Mats Hummels, Philip Lahm, Thomas Meuller and Toni Kroos while the three Argentina players on the list are Real Madrid’s Angel Di Maria, Barcelona duo Lionel Messi and Javier Mascherano.
Coincidentally, the two sides face each other in the final at the Maracana on Sunday evening after Germany hit host country Brazil 7-1 on Tuesday, while Argentina overcame Holland on
penalties on Wednesday night.
Neymar is Brazil’s only entry, while James Rodriguez and Arjen Robben complete the shortlist.
The winner will be selected by the FIFA technical group and announced after the final between Germany and Argentina on Sunday.
