Belgium midfielder Eden Hazard did not train on Wednesday as precaution for a painful toe injury he picked up in their Group H World Cup opener against Algeria.

The 23-year-old Chelsea playmaker has undergone a precautionary scan on the injury and the Red Devils’ coach Marc Wilmots revealed lab results showed Hazard suffered only a minor contusion on his toe.

Hazard, who came in for some hard tackles against Algeria, provided the pass for Dries Mertens to seal a late 2-1 comeback victory.

Belgium plays Russia at the Maracana in Rio on Sunday in their second group match, and Hazard, 2014 PFA Young Player of the Year is doubtful for the clash.
