Fabio Cannavaro has confirmed he “couldn’t say no” if called to replace Cesare Prandelli as Italy Coach.
Italy is on the verge of appointing another National team coach, following the early exit at the World Cup, which caused former coach Prandelli to resign.
“It would be an honour for me…” the Ballon d’Or and FIFA Player of the Year 2006 told reporters.
“However, the President in charge of the Federation is also changing and I think it’s very difficult.
“Of course I couldn’t say no and I don’t know their plans for the future. It is an important moment for Italian football, though.”
Cannavaro has been working in Dubai for several years and is currently in Brazil as a commentator for ITV.
