Barcelona have completed the signing of Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic on a three-year deal worth £15million.
However, Barcelona may not announce the signing until next Tuesday, with a few details left to be sorted on the central midfielder’s contract.
Rakitic, 26, will replace the departing Cesc Fabregas, who is enroute Chelsea according to wild reports.
The Croatian star was part of Unai Emery’s side that beat Benfica to the Europa League title in Torino.
He is currently with the Croatia squad ahead of their friendly against Australia on Saturday, but met with Barcelona earlier in the week.
Rakitic becomes Barca’s third summer signing after goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen and another Croatian, youngster Alen Halilovic moved to Nou Camp.
With just one year to go on his contract, Sevilla have been forced to sell Rakitic for a lesser price.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are still interested in acquiring the services of Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke, but his £50m release fee clause is a warn off.
