Tim Sherwood is hopeful towering Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor will be available for Tottenham’s league match against Sunderland on Monday.
Sherwood admitted the 30-year-old former Real Madrid forward, who has been Spurs’ top scorer this season, has been a “big miss” after series of “outstanding” performances, and he hasn’t featured since pulling up a hamstring injury during 1-0 derby defeat to Arsenal.
However, Adebayor returned to training with the squad on Tuesday and is now in line for a return against the Black Cats in the Barclays Premier League next week.
Sherwood told Tottenham’s official website: “It’s great to see him back out there.
“We’ll continue to assess him as the week progresses and hopefully he’ll then be back in contention against Sunderland. He’s obviously been a big miss. He’s been outstanding for us.”
