It might interest you to know that two of Manchester United staffs kids have been training with their fiercest neighbours Manchester City, in another tale of footballing renegade.
Robin van Persie’s 7-year-old son Shaqueel and Phil Neville’s 11-year-old Harvey have both joined City academy, and not United, though neither of them has officially signed yet with Manuel Pellegrini’s camp.
It appears a strange move and not immediately clear as to why the pair aren’t at Old Trafford where their fathers are directly involved in playing and coaching respectively.
A club source told Manchester Evening News that: “There’s quite a bit of surprise about it. You would have thought that if they were going to be with anyone it would have been United.”
Neville returned to United to become a coach under David Moyes last summer, while Van Persie was the top scorer in England last season following his £24million move from Arsenal.
