Gerard Pique’s wife Shakira reveals she never in her wildest imaginations thought of being a WAG, but she’s “proud” to be one, claiming she has an undeniable relationship with football.

The FIFA World Cup performer and pop star, who is ten years older than the Barcelona left-back, admitted she “never thought of dating a footballer”, and she described them as “soldiers”, who will forfeit everything to ensure their team’s victory.

The 37-year-old Colombian however, praised her 27-year-old partner, saying he has a different mindset towards her, though, he can’t attend all her shows, but she tries to attend most of Pique’s games to cheer him up.

“I have to live in Barcelona because
Gerard is anchored here. Footballers are like soldiers, he can’t really travel and go away with me,” Shakira told The Sun.

“I have an undeniable relationship with football. I feel part of it. I never thought I would end up dating a footballer but it’s great.

“There’s something about the mind of a footballer. He has a totally different mindset to me.

“He always thinks about how everything he does will impact on his team. That’s very different to us
megalomaniac artists.”

However, she has promised to cheer her native Colombia and her husband’s country Spain to victory at the Brazil summer tourney as their biggest groupie , as Vincente del Bosque’s side look to retain the trophy they won in South Africa four years ago.

“I never knew I would be so proud to be a WAG, but I am one of them – and very happy about it, Shakira said.

“I go to as many of his games as possible and I wouldn’t miss the World Cup. I’ll be there this year as a groupie.”

Shakira and Pique have been dating since 2011, a year after the latter’s World Cup success with Spain, having made the video for Waka Waka, the official song for the tournament.

The couple have a one-year-old son named Milan born on 22 January 2013.
