It seems infidelity can never be excised from the life of a modern footballer, with notable stars like Ryan Giggs, John Terry and Rio Ferdinand all implicated in the past with similar matrimonial breaches.
Despite the fact that married Arsenal forward Oliver Giroud had consistently denied taking Celia Kay to the Four Seasons Hotel in Canary Wharf London, the night before the 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace on February 2, pictures of the striker have emerged which was taken by the model in his hotel room wearing just pants.
Giroud had earlier issued a grovelling apology to his wife Jennifer and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger after a picture by the pin-up appeared in a national newspaper.
Meanwhile, Wenger confirmed that disciplinary action would be taken against Giroud after he apologised for taking a female companion back to the team hotel and he denied any coitus with her which was corroborated by his philandering model puppet.
Wenger said: “It is an internal matter but I do not want to comment publicly because I respect his privacy.”
The Gunners planned to fine the star up to £230,000 but backed off after his denial. His lawyers also sent a series of letters to the newspaper denying any wrongdoing.
