Mario Balotelli and M’Baye Niang gave AC Milan the upper hand as they clinched third place in the Guiness international Champions cup.
The Italian giants got a early lead against L.A galaxy, as Robbie Keane was dispossessed in the 17th minute, allowing Andrea Poli to send a pin point pass for Balotelli, who sent the ball past Carlo Cudicini.
Stephan El Shaarawy came close to make it two when he nicely controlled a pass from Niang but his shot lacked power that saw Cudicini parry the ball over the crossbar.
The Brazilian midfielder unleashed a swerving effort from distance which Christian Abbiati parried and the Milan goalkeeper had Cristian Zapata to thank as he produced a crucial challenge to prevent Landon Donovan from sweeping in the rebound.
Niang doubled their lead four minutes before the interval. The goal gave Allegri’s men control over the game.
Arena made a lot of changes in the second half due to an important league fixture against Dallas on the weekend. After the change L.A galaxy found it difficult to cope with Milan’s attack.
